Wipro’s Hosted Data Center Services (DCS) business is now part of Ensono, a hybrid IT services provider.
Ensono announced the partnership in March with the $405m deal officially closing this week, resulting in the transfer of Wipro’s Hosted Data Center Services (DCS) assets in the USA, Europe and Singapore to Ensono. The further acquisition of India-based assets is planned for later this year.
The company’s third acquisition in three years, the deal significantly extends Ensono’s portfolio to more than 200 clients, expands its data center footprint and doubles Ensono’s annual revenue to $550 million. The arrangement also includes 900 Wipro employees, increasing Ensono’s workforce to 2,000 “skilled associates”.
Driven by an ongoing rise in demand for transformation initiatives, the two organizations have entered into a strategic partnership to deliver always-on, scalable, hybrid IT solutions to their enterprise clients. Under the agreement, Wipro will invest $55 million into Ensono and join the company’s Board of Directors.
“This particular acquisition and partnership with Wipro substantially increases our ability to scale and service our growing client portfolio. We are increasing our geographic presence by expanding our data center operations in Germany, UK and the US, as well as establishing an operational presence in India,” said Jeff VonDeylen, CEO, Ensono.
This time last year, VonDeylen received Finance Monthly’s 2017 CEO Award for his contribution and role in acquiring Attenda, a UK-based Hybrid IT service provider.
Headquartered in Bangalore, India, Wipro Limited is a $8.5b global IT, consulting and business process service provider with over 160,000 employees serving 1,300 clients across the world.
“As we embrace our strategy of focusing on newer digital areas of spend, our strategic investment and partnership with Ensono will enable us to remain committed to meeting the hosted data center services requirements of our customers,” said Kiran Desai, Senior VP, Global Infrastructure Services, Wipro.
Ensono’s vision is to be recognized as a global leader in hybrid IT solutions. In September 2016, Ensono acquired Attenda, enhancing the organization’s ability to manage complex global environments. And in March 2017, Ensono acquired Inframon, strengthening the company’s Microsoft Azure managed services offering.
