According to Synergy Research Group, last year’s fourth quarter spending on cloud infrastructure services jumped 45% from the same period in 2017, adding up to a full-year growth rate of 48% in 2018.

A recent report by the firm has also projected that the cloud infrastructure services market will exceed more than US $198 billion by 2024. In turn, the data center industry is seeing a rise in enterprise customers demanding private, direct connections to the major cloud providers via colocation data centers.

In terms of revenue, Amazon Web Services dominated the public cloud market, maintaining its 45% growth rate from last year and generating annual revenue of a staggering US $25.65 billion.

Meanwhile, Microsoft Azure estimated a 2018 annual revenue run rate of US $11 billion, Google Cloud Platform reported US $4 billion, followed closely by Alibaba Cloud at US $3.85 billion.
