The telecom & data tower has been in use since 1957 and has served as a radio and television tower in recent years. The 157 meter high transmission tower was actually 20 meters higher. When the antenna was replaced by KPN in 2007, it was possible with a shorter antenna. After all, the space for analogue radio stations was no longer necessary. This tower is built according to the same principles as the tower of Hoogersmilde and IJsselstein , but is considerably lower.
Since June 2014, a large Cellnex data center has been housed in Roermond's telecom & datators. With this location, the Limburg region also gained access to the data center of the future. The opening was also given for the Smart Art Challenge, a design competition for children from Roermond. Primary school Neel from Roermond won the challenge.
