The company is rapidly expanding its data center infrastructure to support its current and future Internet services, including iCloud. The bulk of Apple's data center facilities are company-owned, however, some colocation space is leased.

100 percent of the electricity used to power Apple's data centers, and 96 percent used by its facilities worldwide, comes from energy sources such as solar, hydro and wind power.
