RedIRIS is the Spanish academic and research network and provides advanced communications services to national scientific and university community. It is funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and included in the map of Special Scientific and Technological Facilities. It takes over management public company Red.es, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade.  RedIRIS has over 350 affiliated institutions, mainly universities and public research centers, which become part of this community by signing an affiliation agreement.
