We are the largest provider of fibre hi-speed residential broadband service (symmetrical 100Mbps and above) in Hong Kong, with a market share of over 50%. We offer a diversified portfolio of premier telecom services to both residential and enterprise markets, including broadband and Wi-Fi access, communication, entertainment and Cloud solutions.
Over the years, we have invested over HK$4.1 billion in establishing one of the most extensive fibre optic networks in Hong Kong*. In 2004, we successfully built the largest Metro Ethernet network in the world. In 2005, we became the first Internet Service Provider (ISP) in the city offering 1,000M residential Fibre-to-the-Home service. In 2013, we completed our acquisition of Y5ZONE Limited and further extended our Wi-Fi business development. Today, our fibre optic network covers over 2.1 million residential homes (about 79% of Hong Kong’s total residential units) and more than 1,900 high-end commercial buildings, with over 11,000 Wi-Fi hotspots available throughout Hong Kong.
* Over the years, the accumulated cost of HKBN’s fixed assets in telecommunications, computer and office equipment, leasehold land and buildings and leasehold improvements amounted to approximately HK$4.1 billion. These fixed assets primarily relate to, and are an integral part of, our network.
